The Ren’dille community has their own unique calendar that is based on the phases of the moon ( Lunar Calendar). The calendar is used to to determine the dates of cultural events eg Sorriyyo, weddings, shaving ceremonies etc. The calendar is based on 12 lunar months – a new month begins when a new moon is sighted.
