OUR PROGRAMS

The Pastoralist Goals Foundation delivers impactful change through the following core programs:

The Girl Rights Project empowers indigenous pastoralist girls to overcome systemic barriers to education and personal development. By addressing cultural practices, economic challenges, and resource limitations, we champion their inherent right to learn and thrive, directly contributing to breaking cycles of poverty

Our flagship Greening Schools Initiative is a holistic program nurturing environmental stewardship, health, and academic success within indigenous pastoralist schools. We engage students in hands-on tree planting and environmental education to foster ecological understanding and sustainability. Simultaneously, we ensure girls’ educational continuity by providing dignity kits and delivering critical mentorship and career guidance, building their confidence and future pathways.

The Indigenous Knowledge project actively integrates and champions traditional ecological knowledge into contemporary climate preparedness efforts. Recognizing its profound value in building climate resilience within Northern Kenya’s pastoralist communities, we document generational wisdom and integrate indigenous early warning systems into broader climate action strategies. Through our weekly ‘Indigenous Knowledge Series,’ we also disseminate vital information on indigenous trees and herbs, fostering the cultural and ecological continuity of pastoralist life.

Our crucial Securing Rights & Self-Determination Program champions justice, dignity, and autonomy for indigenous pastoralist communities. We actively advocate for secure land and tenure rights, the bedrock of their livelihoods and culture while fighting marginalization and ensuring equitable access to vital services. This program fundamentally empowers communities to exercise self-determination, safeguarding their rich cultural heritage and enabling them to shape their own truly sustainable and dignified futures.

The Emergency Response Program provides vital, swift relief to indigenous pastoralist communities disproportionately impacted by climate-induced crises like droughts and erratic rainfall. Recognizing their minimal contribution to global emissions yet severe vulnerability, we address immediate needs stemming from livestock losses, escalating poverty, and food insecurity, while simultaneously upholding their dignity amidst disruption to their traditional way of life.
